A greenhouse The Greenhouse

Having a greenhouse will extend the growing season and allow you to grow a wider range of plants. It needn't be a burden...

  • Make sure the greenhouse is easy to get into and move around.
  • If possible site the greenhouse close to the house as you will be using it more in the colder weather.
  • Internal paths should at least 2'6" (870 mm) wide if you use a wheelchair or walking frame.
  • Greenhouse benching should be a comfortable height for you to use either standing or sitting.
  • Make sure you can easily reach the back of the benches.
  • Heating in the greenhouse will not only extend the growing season but make it more comfortable to work in.
  • The use of inexpensive automatic vents helps with temperature variations.
